This was an idea I had for a comic for my university's newspaper a long, long time ago. I got the idea right when I got the job and saved it until election time came around...and they didn't like the idea and I had to do something else for the politics/voting cartoon.
So I did this piece on my own. I love the concept of showing how I feel about politics (really how I feel about political bickering) through two alien species that live to fight each other and any innocents who get in the way.
Yeah not too subtle or deep, and a tad cliche when it comes to the middle-ground "God I hate the left and right" whining. But its not meant to be serious at all, or some kind of indictment the left and right, just a fun parody.
I intentionally picked the Aliens for democrats and the Predators for Republicans, since the democrats often talk about equality and a lack of prejudice (like the Aliens, who have no prejudice when it comes to finding people to prey on) and the republicans talk about morality and honor and stereotypically like to hunt (much like the Predators and their sense of honor in their hunt, which still gets people killed).
...okay, so a slight indictment. I really don't think all repubs or dems are bad, but I'd honestly rather let robots take over the world (Matrix, Skynet, I don't care) then sit through another election where we decide to forget what feebs and liars most of these people are and decide they're worth straining family and friend relationships to get them in office.
Art wise, I love how things feel cartoonish with the simple coloring yet still 3d with the shading and the mostly realistic proportions (for outer space monsters anyway). I especially like how the Alien's head and the Predator's mask came out.
[10-14-07] Updated comic; redrew Alien's tale, added shading to his head and slacks.
